It is a very pretty compact board. I got the green version, which I like because (IMHO) the light squares are a little lighter than in the chocolate version (too dark for my taste). The material feels like some sort of rubber (apparently it is PVC), very smooth. It is flexible, but not as flexible as to roll the keyboard tightly. One can roll it, though (it even comes with a string to keep it rolled), just not too tighltly; enough for both ends to overlap. It is also very lightweight. Mine has no significant blemishes. The squares have this "embossed" style, with the light squares being slightly higher then the black ones. All in all, I like it very much. Lightweight, good-looking and different from almost anything I have seen. A very stylish alternative to a classical wooden board. Well worth the price.
